Disadvantaged Communitites
In this programme, £5000 is the most you can apply for.
While many people in the UK enjoy the benefits of a prosperous economy, there are still local communities (both urban and rural) that suffer from economic and social deprivation. Living in these areas can be really tough, with high crime rates, inadequate services and facilities, poor public transport and high local prices for food and goods. Despite the many regeneration initiatives in some areas, many local people do not feel they have benefited or had a say in the decisions about what needs to change. This programme aims to put the power for change with local people.
A local community can be in a town, a city or the countryside, and is defined as a small geographical area, such as a housing estate, neighbourhood or village. Groups should be managed by their users and may be small and informal, as long as they have an agreed set of rules (a constitution).
This programme does not support work over a larger area, for example, city-wide initiatives or across a whole town.
