Domestic Violence
Domestic violence affects the lives of hundreds of thousands of families, and has been tolerated or ignored by society for far too long. We have been a high-profile funder in this area for many years, making grants to a range of services including outreach work, telephone helplines and refuge accommodation.
Our new focus will be on young people affected by domestic violence. More than 750,000 children and young people witness domestic violence every year. Many live in fear and are frightened to ask for help. They may face loss of friendships, stigma and social isolation. This is an area where there is little other funding, and there are many gaps in services. By targeting our support in this way, we hope that more young people affected by domestic violence can get help and support when they need it.
