Apply for an International Grant

Step 3 of 3:  Apply Now

Apply for an International Grant

You can send in one application for a project or resource grant in each grant making cycle. Your application can be for any one of our programmes. Successful applicants can hold, more than one project grant funding different projects.

Re-applications

If you are coming to the end of an existing Comic Relief project grant, you can apply for continued funding. Before you apply, you must have carried out an independent review or evaluation of the previous grant and given us a copy of the report and your response to it. We cannot guarantee your application will receive further funding.

Please remember that even if your project or research and development grant application fits our grant making guidelines, it may not be possible to give you a grant as we always receive many more applications than we can fund. We encourage everyone who applies to us to look for funding from other sources as well.

If your application is unsuccessful, we will provide some feedback on the reasons for this. However, you cannot reapply for the same project until the end of our current grants strategy.

Guidelines for filling in the application form

To give your application the greatest chance of success, we have produced some guidelines to filling in the form, including details on what we look for in an application. Please read these in full before completing the form.

The lifecycle of a successful Project Grant application

  1. Submit Application
  2. Assessment
  3. Decision Making
  4. Agree outputs & outcomes, and budgets
  5. Monitoring and evaluation
  6. Monitoring and evaluation
  7. Monitoring and evaluation

Decision-making timetable

There is no need to rush your application. We make sure that we have funds available for each grant making cycle.

When you submit your project grant summary application you will have the option to choose whether you want to complete the full application within the same cycle (you will have 3 weeks from notification of success at shortlisting to complete the full application) or whether you would like to spend more time compiling your full application and submit it into the following cycle (approx 4 months later). Dependent upon which route you chose you should hear whether you application has been successful in either 4 or 7 months from your summary application.

Below are our first three deadlines. We will post later deadlines on our website.

  1. Read the guidelines
Before going to the on-line application site please download and read the relevant guidance below. Reading the guidance will maximise your chances of making a successful application. You may want to do your preparatory work in a Word document before working online.

  2. Fill in the application form
If you meet the criteria and want to apply, you can begin your application by going to the on-line application form. You need to submit a complete application form by noon on the day of the cycle deadline. Watch this site for the opening date for 2010 submissions.

Once you have created an account, start an international grant application. Make sure you select a programme on the Organisation tab, to bring up all the programme specific elements of the application. If you decide to change your programme selection, make sure you go back and recomplete the programme specific sections. You can switch between programme selections without loosing any programme specific entries that you have made.
