Supporting Sport Relief – without a training shoe in sight!!
On Friday 19th March, after much detailed preparation, HRSS in Manchester were delighted to be one of the 88 call centres nationwide taking donations from the public as the Sports Relief TV show was aired on the BBC.
We had 132 volunteers made up from all areas of HRSS in Manchester and business areas from other floors in Hardman Boulevard.
In total we took donations for £106,000 which is about £350 every minute. The phones were busy all night and we answered 4003 calls. All volunteers worked together to ensure that donations were taken quickly, which resulted in zero dropped calls. We had great team work displayed throughout the whole night.
Here are some thoughts from those who supported the event
‘This was my first time being involved in something like this and I really enjoyed it.’
‘All I would say is that I really enjoyed it, there was a really good vibe from both the volunteers and callers and I would recommend it to everyone’
‘There was a great team spirit on the night and it was great to be part of something that helped make a difference!’
‘I was a little worried about keeping my eyes open to such an hour way past my bed time, but the buzz around the centre kept me going and the yummy pizza of course! It was really nice when the callers recognised what we were doing and was so nice to speak to these people. There really are some generous people out there. I will be doing this again for sure and would recommend it to anyone who hasn’t done anything like this before’
‘It's great how everyone got stuck in and worked hard, we didn’t lose a single call.. It was great how we had updates on the board to keep us going. Just a great cause and a good laugh. Thanks to the organisers and team leaders - they were wonderful. Bring on next year!!’
