Hope for Children
Poverty is endemic in northern Ghana, and large numbers of children are sent to live with relatives long-term in the belief that they may be better cared for. Many girls end up as domestic servants and are denied the opportunity to go to school, or they are sent to the south of Ghana to work.
Comic Relief is helping this project to create opportunities for girls to access education or vocational training and to enjoy their rights. It also targets girls who may end up living on the streets or being involved in the sex trade. These vulnerable girls get health guidance, counselling and medical care as well as food, education and clothing.
