War on Want
In Guatemala, children from poor Mayan families are often sent far from home to work in factories or as domestic workers. They receive little or no wages, and are frequently physically or sexually abused by their employers. Girls in particular remain especially vulnerable.
With help from Comic Relief, this project provides practical help and assistance to more than 2,440 working children and their families. Along with health care and education on sexual and reproductive health, specialist support from social workers and counselling from psychologists is also be provided.
