People living in the poorest urban slums of Ethiopia lack the most basic provisions for survival. Without access to reasonable housing, safe water or sanitation, they are vulnerable to ill health and have few of their human rights met. HIV/AIDS rates are high, there is little employment and limited access to education as a possible way out. Orphans and children are particularly vulnerable. Comic Relief is supporting JeCCDO to work with local community members to build their confidence and abilities to tackle their most pressing basic needs. Improvements in health, education and income are focused on women and children, but will also benefit entire communities.
