Domestic Violence

Paws for Kids

When children grow up in families where domestic violence takes place, their lives are often very insecure and unsettled. For many children, their pets provide a trusting relationship and affection. Their animals are often the victims of violence as well and, in many cases, children have to leave them behind with the abuser when they go to find safety in a refuge. Paws for Kids in Bolton is supporting women and children who have survived domestic abuse. A key element of the initiative is a pet fostering service that takes in animals when abused families enter refuges. This provides great comfort to children at such a traumatic time in their lives.
