Many vulnerable older people who live in care homes can't get their views heard or defend their rights. Living with dementia makes it particularly hard for them to express their opinions or to have a say in their care treatment. This leaves them at risk of being isolated, mistreated or excluded. Age Concern Preston and South Ribble provides a citizen advocacy scheme for older people with dementia who live in care homes. They enable these vulnerable older people to have choices, get their voices heard, to be understood and to influence important decisions that affect their daily lives.
