Asylum Support and Immigration Resource Team (ASIRT)
Women who have experienced trauma, such as rape and sexual violence, find it very difficult to talk about their experiences whilst making an asylum claim. The system isn't sympathetic to their needs and it doesn't support them to open up about the horrors of their lives back in the countries they have fled from. This means that women often end up making unsuccessful claims. Comic Relief is helping The Asylum Seeker and Immigration Resource Team in Birmingham to support women in making appeals relating to their asylum claims.
