Ormiston Children and Families Trust
Refugees and asylum seekers can have few opportunities to mix with people from the communities that they are now a part of. Equally, many local residents see the arrival of refugees and asylum seekers as taking limited services away from them. This can lead to a lack of communication and understanding that can cause tension and mistrust.
Comic Relief is supporting The Ormiston Children and Families Trust to develop a community café that will not only act as a venue to get refugees and asylum seekers and local people to mix, but also be the focus point for shared activities such as cookery classes, literacy and numeracy classes and IT classes.
