About the Issue

Some UK communities are divided due to poverty, a lack of opportunities, religious differences and racism. These divisions can develop into long term simmering tensions that erupt and result in further intolerance and unrest. Young people can grow up in a climate of mistrust leading to their futures being clouded by violence or misunderstanding. Comic Relief cash is helping to bring divided young people together who are in conflict with each other. By breaking down the barriers that lead to violence, and building bridges between these young people, whole communities benefit in the long term.
