North Belfast Play Forum
For decades sectarianism has been part of everyday life in Northern Ireland. Protestants and Catholics live alongside each other but throughout the troubles and the violence that has been rife there, they have often led very segregated lives. This has created tensions between young people whose communities have already been blighted by decades of conflict, poverty and unemployment - and where as few as 15% of young people have a recognised educational qualification. Midnight Street Soccer in Belfast is using Comic Relief cash to bring both Catholic and Protestant young people together through their shared love of football - breaking down the barriers that lead to conflict and helping them to rebuild their local communities.
