Young People and Alcohol

Sunderland AFC Foundation

Young people living in some parts of Sunderland can grow up knowing very little about their neighbours. Entire families can spend their lives sharing the same area without understanding anything about each other’s cultures, religions and values, which can lead to fear and prejudice. Sadly, this can spill over into violent clashes as young people form rival gangs. Sunderland AFC Foundation is working hard to change all that. They work with primary and secondary school children from different communities, as well as their parents, to build bridges which last. By showing young people that they have a shared passion for football they allow common ground for bonding and, ultimately, stamping racism out of their communities.
