About the Issue

For many young people, drinking alcohol is a symptom of having to cope with a range of problems including mental health problems, family break down or childhood trauma. Young people who drink alcohol can experience a range of harms - including alcohol poisoning, injuries from violence, depression, self-harm and, in some cases, suicide, poor educational performance, social exclusion, family conflict, homelessness and anti-social or criminal behaviour.
