Young People and Prostitution

About the Issue

Although the involvement of children abused through prostitution is not a new phenomenon, the needs of these young people have barely been recognised. The vast majority, if not all of them, have severe social, emotional and health problems. Teenagers as young as 13 or 14 are being abused through prostitution and the increase in mobile phone usage and the Internet means that much of this abuse is even more hidden.
