TK Maxx
Employees at high street retailer TK Maxx raised a colossal £342,000 for us in 2009. That’s an amazing £24 per head.
Staff did it in all kinds of ways, including having their heads shaved, sitting in baths of baked beans and doing bucket collections. But their biggest money-spinner was a T-shirt relay. This involved all of TK Maxx’s stores getting a T-shirt from one end of the country to the other. On its way, the T-shirt got to ride on various modes of transport with staff and took in such sights as Big Ben and 10 Downing Street – lucky T-shirt.
So we’d like to say a big thank you to all of the employees of TK Maxx for all of their hard work. They were super organised by having someone who was dedicated to all things employee fundraising. They had around 300 charity champions who got colleagues motivated to do their bit. And they produced a handy pack for stores to launch their fundraising, along with regular Comic Relief newsletters to employees to keep them motivated.
