Personal Stories
Rohit, India
When 14 year old Rohit was just a boy, he fled from home to escape violent beatings from his father. Without anyone to turn to for help, he ended up sleeping on the streets of Delhi doing whatever it took to scrape together enough money to survive.
Often, the little money he earned would get stolen at night and he’d be afraid to fall asleep in case he got mugged in the dark.
Thankfully though, Rohit was told about the Butterflies Night Shelter – a special Comic Relief funded project that helps street children, just like him.
There he found a safe place to sleep and has been given a secure place to keep what precious money he earns. He also goes to school at the project and gets an education - which means his future now looks bright.
