Today is Female Genital Mutilation Awareness Day, and so our good news story relates to the success we’ve had in dealing with this issue. In Ethiopia, one of our Women and Girls projects, KMG, have been working to reduce the practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) – something that is deeply rooted in the local tradition and culture. KMG’s target was to reduce the practice by 15% - but they ended up with an 85% elimination rate in three of the districts they worked in. This has been such a huge success that they are now working to achieve this in four more districts.
