On Friday 18 March British Gas Southampton once again showed its heart by raising over £820 for Comic Relief and by taking over 3,600 calls to support the charity on the night.

Kerry Coutinho, who leads Corporate Responsibility for the site, said; “I’d like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication – either through raising funds for Comic Relief or coming in and supporting by taking pledge calls. I’d really like to recognise our CR Reps and those that worked so hard behind the scenes to make this happen.

“It was great to see so many inventive ways of raising funds too – from Ben Rowe shaving his head to the fabulous tuck shops selling some tasty treats throughout the day.”

More than 155 volunteers, a great mix of family, friends and colleagues, came in during the evening to help take pledge calls from across the UK. They took some £118,000 in phone pledges too!

Of course, a Comic Relief night wouldn’t be the same without some great entertainment and this night was no different with some excellent activities for visiting children, some top quizzes and much more.

“What a feel good day - I feel good for contributing and because so much money was raised” said volunteer Sue Ward from Carla Mitchener’s team in Southampton.

“A thoroughly enjoyable evening, nice and busy, which was great! We’re looking forward to next time” added Tina Hobbs and her eight friends and family that came along on the night!
