BT - Sheffield

For Red Nose Day 2011, the BT call centre in Sheffield decided to call in the big guns, and joined forces with PlusNet, the Yorkshire-HQed BT subsidiary. From early evening, 130 advisors and managers from both companies converged on Telephone House, and came away 6 hours later having taken 2,835 calls and £94,838.01 in donations. But that’s not where the money stopped! Our brave volunteers came away with lighter pockets too, supporting fundraising throughout the week with the usual sponsored hijinks, as well as the more unusual sight of Camela the BT camel wandering the building and heading off into the city centre too, collection bucket at the ready. The telethon was a great success; all of the volunteers went home having made a hugely positive impact on the lives of so many others.
