HomeServe - Walsall

HomeServe
WalsallFor the sixth year running, HomeServe once again opened its Walsall Call Centre to support Comic Relief. An incredible 215 volunteers (HomeServe staff, their family and friends) answered 3,050 donors’ calls and brought in over £100,000 in donations.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Walsall welcomed the volunteers and Albion legend Joe Mayo and mascots, Baggie and Albi Bird joined in the carnival atmosphere. (HomeServe is the West Bromwich Albion FC shirt sponsor this season!).
Volunteers came as pirates (just like Captain Conk – the red nose this year) and received fantastic spot prizes throughout the night, generously donated by HomeServe’s partners and suppliers – including a signed Baggies shirt, which was presented to the lucky winner by Joe Mayo.
Sarah Palmer, National Charity Manager at HomeServe commented: “This was HomeServe’s best Comic Relief night ever; I’d like to thank all our staff and volunteers. To help raise over £100,000 in just five hours is an incredible achievement. We even had three £1,000 donations. It always amazes me how generous the great British public is – even in these difficult times”.
Marc Weston, Operations Manager concurred, “I was full of anticipation building up to the night; double checking everything to ensure all the systems were fine and ready to go and it turned out to be the best red nose atmosphere I have witnessed in 6 years. The 200+ volunteers were all really keen to get on the phones. Everybody I spoke to had a great night and are looking forward to supporting such a worthy cause again next year”.
