Comic Relief at IBM Greenock site was a great success. Around 130 employees at the site volunteered to assist on the night along with family and friends.
£78,512 was taken via the Greenock contact centre, through 2,733 calls from the public giving donations. In addition, almost £1,000 was raised throughout the site through a prize raffle and a popular ‘sponge your colleague’ activity where employees paid to soak one of their colleagues, held in stocks, with ice cold water! In addition, employees enjoyed sales of home baking and some fancy dress competitions, all designed to raise funds for Comic Relief and have fun at the same time!
Local writer and stand up comedian, Gerry McDade, was invited to officially open the lines, and the volunteers were entertained at breaks with live music from Drew Lesslie and Ryan McCluckie, and a fantastic display from Stephen Rooney's Taekwon Do junior section who entertained and impressed the volunteers with their martial arts displays. There was a tremendous party atmosphere, with everyone working together to ensure a very successful evening.
