Shop Direct - Preston

In true Shop Direct style, willing volunteers packed our Preston contact centre to take phone donations for this year’s Comic Relief campaign.

More than 130 people, from across the business, staffed the phone lines and by midnight, between them our colleagues had taken £80,000 in donations from viewers calling in to show their support for the fantastic work the Comic Relief team has undertaken year after year.

To ensure our wonderful volunteers were able to keep going late into the evening, a whole range of fun activities was organised including performances from local band Juice, street dancing demonstrations and even a Shop Direct version of the popular Saturday night TV show “Take Me Out.” In addition, there were plenty of goodies to eat and drink, thanks to the on-site catering team and the generosity of nearby Preston eateries.

At the end of the extra-special shift all the volunteers said the same – they were exhausted but delighted to have taken part in such an amazing event and for such a worthwhile cause!
