Yell

200 volunteers manned the phones between 7pm and midnight and took 6,051 calls and £217,985 in donations. The largest single donation we took was £5,000. We took calls from Guernsey, France and Italy with some lovely stories about why people had donated.
The 3rd Tilehurst Brownies helped out in the call centre during the evening, getting volunteers drinks.
In addition Yell people around the office were fundraising all day and raised an impressive £3,000 for Comic Relief. There was leg waxing, fancy dress, pyjama wearing, cake sales, a hula hooping competition, a doughnut eating competition, raffles, sweep stakes, a baked bean tombola and auctions.
Paul Crowe, head of business listings at Yell and manager of the Comic Relief call centre in Reading, said: "This was the busiest year for Comic Relief we have ever had which is fantastic. Yell people have always been generous volunteering their time for important causes such as this, so it is encouraging to see it getting bigger and better every year. The buzz around the office during the day and in the call centre during the evening was brilliant."
