Catherine Cottrell joined Comic Relief in the newly formed post of Executive Director of Fundraising and Partnerships in March 2018 having worked for some of the biggest charity brands in the UK and gaining a track record of transforming income and developing new channels. She came to us directly from Unicef UK where she spent over 5 years as Deputy Executive Director, responsible for their fundraising portfolio, and in that time doubling their voluntary income. Prior to this she led the Fundraising operation at the RSPCA, where she drove the creation and implementation of a new fundraising strategy bringing high growth in income from individuals and high value partnerships.
She joined the RSPCA following a long career in sales and marketing at both not for profit and commercial organisations, including King’s College London where she was Marketing Director, Cancer Research UK and Haymarket Publishing.
Catherine plays a strong role in the sector, in particular by supporting the recent regulatory changes by both sitting on the working group to create the new Fundraising Preference Service and being a member of the new Fundraising Regulator’s Complaints and Investigations committee since its inception.
