Shabby has been communicating to consumer and business audiences since 2001 with experience in the private and non-profit sectors, from well-known financial institutions to a high street delivery pizza chain, as well as small local charities offering health and community services for those living with HIV. Her experience in the non-profit sector includes the former Help the Aged (now Age UK), WaterAid and CARE International where she focussed on raising funds and external relations.
Shabby has led teams raising funds from individuals, trusts and foundations, multi-million pound corporate partnerships and government. She has also led communications, events and digital teams. Most notably she grew CARE’s International Women’s Day campaign in London from a few hundred people in 2013, to 10,000 attending an event in Trafalgar Square in 2018 – and then globalising the campaign to 45 countries in 2019.
She is passionate about making stories of complex poverty-alleviation programmes accessible to large audiences through the power of storytelling, compelling imagery and simple messaging. Shabby is a Board member for Greenpeace and a Trustee for Africa Advocacy Foundation.
