Comic Relief announces £2 million partnership to support #iwill campaign

21st November 2016

Comic Relief is delighted to announce a £2 million collaboration to support the #iwill campaign, an initiative set-up to inspire young people across the UK to play an active role in driving social change in their communities and beyond through activities including campaigning, volunteering and fundraising.

In line with Comic Relief’s long-standing commitment to supporting children and young people, this exciting new funding partnership, which is being developed with young people, will reach youth audiences who don’t typically engage in their community, as well as providing support to those keen to be a part of it. Their heightened skills and confidence will help transform the culture of community engagement and volunteering, and provide young people with the opportunities needed to develop skills for both work and life.

Currently, just four in 10 young people regularly take part in initiatives such as campaigning, fundraising and volunteering. The #iwill campaign is working to get at least six in 10 10-20 year olds taking part by the year 2020, and this significant new investment will help achieve this goal.

Adam Askew, Head of Funding Partnerships at Comic Relief said, “We are really excited to announce this new partnership to support the #iwill campaign. Taking an active role in communities can really help to transform the lives of individuals in a number of ways, including opening-up opportunities to employment and helping to develop wider life skills, as well as significantly benefitting the wider community. We look forward to working with young people to help shape this initiative and to support the ambitions of the #iwill campaign”.

The collaboration between Comic Relief and the new #iwill Fund supports Step Up To Serve’s #iwill campaign.
