Girls Skateboarding Initiative
September 12th 2017
November 1st 2019
Projekts and Greater Manchester Youth Network will use skateboarding to tackle negative gender stereotyping within the sport and more widely.
Together, they will introduce girls to the sport, teaching them how to skate and then training them as community reporters.
The aim is to build confidence, resilience, personal development and encourage healthy choices through leadership courses and hard media skills training.
The partnership will also address the underrepresentation of women and girls in skateboarding and give them a voice on other issues in their lives.
This project is supported in partnership with the Tampon Tax Fund.
Comic Relief has been funding work tackling gender-based violence and supporting women and girl’s activism globally since we began. In the UK we’ve supported community organisations delivering vital services like the National Domestic Violence Helpline and supported organisations working together to create big changes, like the Refugee Women’s Charter.
£30 could support women and girls to be safer, healthier, educated and independent.
