Suicide is a gender issue - 76% of all suicides in the UK are by men.

The way society defines masculinity plays a significant role, making it difficult for many men to recognise and talk about their problems.

Currently, CALM's helpline and web chat are both very oversubscribed. This funding will boost the organisation's front line services to offer a longer 12 hour service, this increased capacity will ensure they are able to respond to more men who contact them.

As a result more men will receive the help they need to better manage their mental health and reduce their suicide risk.
