National Domestic Violence Helpline

In 2003, we helped establish the first free National Domestic Violence Helpline. For the first time, access to support needed by a vulnerable caller, wherever they were in the country, was available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The helpline gives support, help and information, and links people to specialist services in their local area. To date, the National Domestic Violence Helpline has received over 1.5 million calls and refers on average 15 women to a refuge every day, helping women and their children to escape violence and build safer lives.
