The People’s Strictly hits the dancefloor for Red Nose Day

15th May 2017

People of Britain! Take out your tutus and dust off your dancing shoes, The People’s Strictly is coming to TV sets near you!

The Strictly Come Dancing team are putting on an extra special fundraising show in the run up to next year’s Red Nose Day campaign.

This time, six inspiring everyday heroes and heroines from society will be nominated by their friends and family to take part in the nation’s favourite dance competition.

Each contestant will be accompanied on their twinkle-toed journey by a professional dancer from the Strictly troupe.

They will only have four weeks of ballroom training before performing their routine in front of the country in the famous Strictly ballroom.

Of course, there will be the panel of tough but fair Strictly judges, as well as glamourous presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman; well, it wouldn’t be Strictly without them!

Charlotte Moore, Controller, BBC One says, "BBC One is the TV home of ballroom dancing so where better to see deserving, real-life heroes and heroines experience the sparkling joy of Strictly and all for such a great cause in Comic Relief."

Kevin Cahill, Chief Executive, Comic Relief says,  "The people have always been at the heart of Red Nose Day and The People's Strictly on BBC One takes this one step further. Having watched well known faces go through the heart-warming journey on Strictly I can't wait to see members of the public having this amazing opportunity. It mixes fun and fundraising in equal measure."

Keeeeep dancing!
