Schools across the UK pledge to make their faces funny for money

15th May 2017

Thousands of schools across the country are getting ready to have fun and raise money for Red Nose Day.

From face painting to funny wigs and cake sales to fancy dress, pupils and teachers are thinking up creative ways to fundraise.

Among them is Howden Secondary School in Goole, where brave teachers are dressing up and performing stand-up comedy for students who will be paying to watch.

Meanwhile pupils at Broadmead Primary School in Croydon will be making their faces funny for money, wearing fancy dress and selling Red Noses.  Their silly snaps will then be sold to parents.

“Everyone’s really excited to open the bags and see which Nose they’ve got,” said Broadmead teacher Grace McDougall.

What’s even more exciting this year is that the UK government has agreed to double the money raised in schools up to £10m. That money will help get 300,000 children across Africa into education and learning.
