Comic Relief appoints Lenny Henry and Kevin Cahill as Honorary Life Presidents

11th May 2017

Comic Relief has appointed Sir Lenny Henry and former CEO Kevin Cahill CBE as the charity’s first Honorary Life Presidents, in recognition of the crucial role they played establishing Comic Relief and their ongoing support for the organisation as it prepares for the future.

Both Lenny and Kevin have helped shape Comic Relief and played vital roles in the development of its Red Nose Day and Sport Relief campaigns, helping the organisation to raise over a billion pounds and – more importantly – enabling Comic Relief to help millions of people to change their lives for the better.

Lenny steps up to his new role of Honorary Life President, having been a trustee of Comic Relief for 27 years, whilst Kevin Cahill takes on the role after standing down as CEO of Comic Relief last year. In their new position, Lenny and Kevin will support the organisation, championing the work Comic Relief funds and drawing attention to the issues the charity is seeking to tackle. They will both continue to act as senior ambassadors for Comic Relief, allowing the organisation to draw on their huge knowledge, experience and expertise.
