Six cities to host the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Flagship Games

Six cities across the UK have been announced as the hosts of the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Flagship Games.

Belfast(opens in new window)Cardiff(opens in new window)Glasgow(opens in new window), London(opens in new window)Norwich(opens in new window) and Sheffield(opens in new window) have been selected to hold the events on Sunday 20th March.

Participants will be encouraged to run, walk, swim or cycle by signing up for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile, the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Swimathon and the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Cycle. The money raised will help disadvantaged people living incredibly tough lives, across the UK and the world’s poorest communities.

The Belfast Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games will start at Custom House Square, the Cardiff event will be held in Bute Park and the surrounding area and the Glasgow Games will take place in Glasgow Green and the surrounding area.

It is the second year running that London will host a Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games. The event will take place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The Norwich Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games will be held within the grounds of the University of East Anglia and the Sheffield event will take place in Sheffield City Centre and the surrounding area.

A number of celebrities and sports stars have pledged their support for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Flagship Games. They include: Northern Irish golfing legend Darren Clarke, Welsh international Rugby player Sam Warburton, Scottish Rugby Union star Greig Laidlaw, reality TV star Jamie Laing, English professional boxer and local Norwich star Anthony Ogogo and Sheffield boxer and world champion Kell Brook.
