New Game Raising campaign seeks to tackle injustice for Sport Relief

20th February 2020

Sport Relief’s new Game Raising campaign, launching today, calls on all gamers across the nation to raise money and create a better future for people living incredibly tough lives in the UK and around the world. In just a few simple steps, Game Raisers can set up their own fundraising page, decide if they want to be part of a team or fly solo, pick their favourite gaming activity and set their Game Raising donation target. Gaming-themed bake sales, cosplay competitions or pay to play board game tournaments – anything goes. Participants can also live stream gaming marathons using their preferred platform including Twitch, YouTube, Facebook Live and Mixer. Gaming activities can take place at home, at university, in the workplace or even the local park. Those unable to Game Raise themselves can still support Sport Relief by watching one of their favourite streamers take on a live challenge and donate to change the outcome using the Donate button provided on the website. All funds raised through Game Raising will help tackle key issues of our time such as homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health stigma, and child poverty, both in the UK and around the world. Liz Hadley, Head of New Ventures at Comic Relief comments: “We’re really excited about this new initiative for Sport Relief. Our Game Raising campaign is our first step in offering a new way to fundraise for the Charity, whether that’s e-sports, board gaming, card games or whichever way you play. We can’t wait to see everyone raise their game to support Sport Relief.” Sign up to JustGiving is free. All fundraisers must be 18 and over. Sport Relief is back on the 13th March. Money raised will support people living incredibly tough lives in the UK and around the world. Find out how you can get your kit on and get involved here(opens in new window).
