Wednesday 13 March 2024: On Saturday 16 March, St. Mary’s Sports Club will embark on an epic 12-hour spin challenge to raise life changing money for Red Nose Day. Gym members and staff alike are all rallying together and showing their commitment to raise as much money as possible for Comic Relief.

The event is set to kick off at 7am and will run until 7pm, with participants taking turns to keep the wheels spinning throughout the day. Each cyclist will make a donation to participate, while others can support their fundraising efforts through St. Mary's JustGiving Page.

Manager, Jack Angell, said: "12 hours and 20 bikes means there are a lot of seats to fill but I’m pretty confident we won’t have an empty bike on the day - our members are always up for a challenge. We’ve got members who regularly spin wanting to do more than an hour which is really good to see."

Jack added: "Red Nose Day is a day when everyone really comes together to raise money for people in need, whether that’s doing something sporty or baking cakes. We’re really happy we’ll be doing our bit for Comic Relief."

With excitement building, St. Mary's Sports Club anticipates a day filled with camaraderie and determination as they pedal towards their fundraising goal.

Samir Patel, CEO at Comic Relief, said: “We love hearing about all the incredible things people are doing across the country to fundraise for Red Nose Day and want to say the biggest thank you to St Mary’s Sports Club – 12 hours of spinning is a huge challenge to take on. We’re so grateful for all your support and wish you all the best of luck!

Samir added: “The money raised for Red Nose Day will help people going through the toughest times in their lives, here in the UK and around the world. So, whether you get sponsored to do a challenge, buy a Red Nose, host a bake sale, or pick up the phone to donate, we are so thankful for everything you do."

Red Nose Day returns on 15 March. To get involved visit www.comicrelief.com for your free fundraising pack. Money raised could help to put food on plates and roofs over heads, keep little ones safe and help support families affected by conflict and climate change.

NOTES TO EDITORS

About Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day is back on Friday 15 March 2024!

It’s that time of year when incredible cake-bakers, joke-makers, telly-watchers, t shirt-wearers, Red Nose-buyers and laugh-til-you-cryers, do something to fight poverty through humour and fun, for communities here in the UK and around the world.

We know that when people come together, great things can happen. So, this March, Comic Relief is uniting the nation to Do Something Funny for Money. The money raised could help put food on plates and roofs over heads, keep little ones safe and help support families affected by conflict and climate change. Having a laugh can make a serious difference.

There are lots of ways to take part in Red Nose Day. To find out more, visit www.comicrelief.com/rednoseday or follow @comicrelief on social media.

Red Nose Day is an initiative of Comic Relief.
