Scottish Government
Sport is a powerful tool for social change and can be used to challenge gender roles and propel women and girls toward better lives.
Comic Relief is working partnership with the Scottish Government, establishing the Levelling the Field fund in 2017, to support projects which use sport to achieve gender equality for underserved women and girls in Malawi, Zambia and Rwanda.
Levelling the Field currently supports 10 charities’ Sport for Change projects. The projects supported tackle a wide range of issues, including tackling negative gender stereotypes; increasing opportunities for women and girls to access education, employment and training; creating leadership opportunities; and supporting projects that tackle violence against women and girls.
Levelling the Field is about to go into its next phase.
